Experience
*- Teaching biotechnology, microbiology, and fermentation operation for different researchers, summer-training students, and the final years of science, pharmacy, dental medicine, and agriculture colleges in our radiation center. Provide the students with an idea about the different branches and applications of biotechnology.
*-Teaching the fundamentals of radiation (gamma, UV, and x-ray) sources, energy, ways of penetration and protection from radiation hazards, and the biological effects of radiation (lethal, sublethal, and activation doses) for different researchers and students.
*- Isolation and identification of different microorganisms from different sources and increasing their ability to perform different fermentation processes and produce many products at the same time.
*- Searching for and finding the best ways for using waste, whatever its sources, in the fermentation process (in fermenters) as a substrate and a source for new beneficial and economic products by using different immobilized microorganisms or their enzymes.
*-production of some microbial enzymes by fermentation technology and study the effect of gamma rays and environmental conditions for access to the selection of optimal conditions to achieve the highest production rate at the lowest costs in ways that are safe and environmentally friendly.
*- Searching for increasing the amount, quality, and shelf life of the products by using different chemical and physical means (including different sources of radiation) as stimulators for increasing the dry weight and enzyme production, or as a sterilizing agent. *- production of mutations (by radiation and /or chemicals) for the microorganisms under study and killing the undesirable and contamination producing microorganisms in the final products.
*- Biological reduction of pollution, by treatment of wastewater, factories wastes and pretreatment of agricultural residues, and microbial degradation of polymers.
*- Evaluation of novel antimicrobial medicinal products by new techniques.
*- Prepare a new mouth washing solution has antimicrobial effects.
*- Extraction and determination of the amino acids and molecular weights of novel antimicrobial proteins and oil seeds from herbals and plants.
*- Examination of the sterility of the irradiated medical and industrial substances before and after irradiation and determination of the best given radiation doses that are neither harmful for the user nor for the constituent of the irradiated samples (protein, carbohydrates and other contents).
*-Preparation and use of eco-friendly packaging for different food products to increase their shelf life and keep consumer health safe.
*-production of different forms of nontoxic polymers for packaging with the assistance of gamma radiation. Use of microorganisms alone, or with the assistance of radiation and burial in the soil, for the safe and rapid degradation.
*-Production of micro- and nano-emulsions and particles that preserve thermo- and air-degraded compounds for use in foods and pharmaceuticals.
*- Making fixation and taking Electron Micrograph for microbial samples.
